Hope I am not the last one posting my homework in. (+ +). Am I suppose to post here?
Mark Bauerlein believed that people under age of 30 are the dumbest generation of all. However is this really the truth? Are people under age of 30 the dumbest of all? Well, personally I don’t think that it is 100% correct and I am not being bias here because I am also one of the many people the author is targeting at.
Mark Bauerlein had claimed that the younger generation are ‘Jaywalking’ , meaning that the younger generation are basically cut off with reality and he believed that the younger generation are not interested in anything that is not essential to them such as the international relations. However in my opinion I do not completely agreed so. Although minority of us may not read news about the world as frequent, there are still a large majority of people reading international news weekly or even daily.
He had also made the point of young generation not reading books and are not willing to read books also which is not very true for me personally and I believed that many of us read books as well. So I think his argument is too generalize in this case.
He thinks that the younger generation cannot spell properly because of the lack of Capitalization and surpluses of IM (Instant messaging) codes used on the Internet.I personally agree with this argumnet which he point out, that people spelling the word incorrectly many times may also become a habit. It certainly would not be nice to be using the IM (Instant messaging) codes on the exam paper or on formal writing such as writing letters.
On the other hand, there are also lots of people arguing against Mr. Bauerlein’s belief of younger generation being the dumbest. Internet do have some downside to it just like everything else have to people, but the downside from the Internet does not overcomes the benefit Internet brings for us.
It brings people who share same interest to this second world of the human race and slowly it is allowing mankind to be building up its own community on the internet, which I think is a very good thing. It offers the new generation a better view of the world since there are so many different Internet users with different nationalities, beliefs and cultures. This meant that we get to have a better view of others and ourselves too and we might also learn how to respect the cultures of other people. Additionaly, Respect is a good technique which will lead us to success.
Technology not only help to build lots of community and socialization but it also have the ability of boosting up economic. There are websites such as the Alibaba which can help find buyers and sellers online, everyday there are many selling and buying going on the website and many trades were deal every few minutes. Without the help of Ebay, people would not be able to find the goods they want to find so fast. Technology had brought us the convenience of buying things, communicating, working and entertaining. The blog we are using now is a good example of teenagers and teachers using the technology we have to do work, research, present, communicate and share our ideas on.
Technology has quickly become one part of us and we also have been pushing it hard to its limit. The rapid increasing of data flowing around on the internet is a good proof of it. So in my opinion our generation is definitely not the dumbest generation but the most intelligent generation which will get involved and witness the historical moment of technology being a part of our life.
The counter argument is from the 45 minutes audio files and some of my own opinion in it also the experience of surfing on Internet. The quote from Mr. Bauerlein originates from the book itself (There are the 8 points argument which Mr. Bauerlein made available on the Internet)

Hi Wei Hsiang, yes, you have posted in the right place : )so should all the others.
I very interesting post.
I agree with you, when you said that Mr. Bauerlein believes we don't read books. I also read on a regular basis, and as far as I know, lots of people in our class and year do too.
I really liked the way you put 'Capitalization' with the capital 'C', I bit of... would that be irony?
However, one technical note: You say 'IM (Instant messaging)' twice, the reason you would put in in brackets the first time, is so that any other time you say 'IM', you don't need to explain what it means. In shorter terms, you only need to give the meaning the first time, and any other time just say IM.
