After reading both articles, what interests me the most is the fact that in both articles it seems to me like the parents are the ones that are more 'obsessed' or uses digital devices more frequently than children. Perhaps the most obvious example was Mr & Mrs Campbell who gets side tracked by playing video games and going on Facebook. And i thought that it was only teenagers our age that 'can't live without' these items! Sleeping with a laptop or iPhone on his chest? Counting the seconds you're offline while going through a tunnel. Who does that?! Plus, parents are the ones telling us to not waste so much time chatting, online, playing games, going on Facebook etc. and spend more time revising and studying. So i think that they're hypocrites themselves. I know that adults frequently use laptops and cellphones for working purpose, but i've never really heard of one that's parenting that plays video games in the midst of working. I guess some people just never grow up :P
Another thing that intrigued me was the statement that said that technology increases stress. Personally, i don't see how. Even though it really depends on what type of person you are, and how frequently you use gadgets, i think that technology actually aids us students in our education. What would happen if there was no Google? Or even Facebook or Skype? I know that i rely on Google to give me instant facts that would otherwise be time consuming as i'd have to search the whole library for just one piece of information. Plus, some can only be found online, and not in books. Some people even gather knowledge (even though they are random ones) online, and as the previous article said 'computer dependents tend to be better educated'. As for Facebook & Skype, i rely on them to communicate with my friends. For planning outings, homework help, or just a mundane conversation, it's much cheaper than calling them, especially if they happen to be on the other side of the world. Plus, you can know talk/chat to multiple people at one time, which makes conversations much easier. Take Facebook Inbox for an example. It saves everything everyone has written and you can view what they 'said' immediately and respond with the same efficiency. So if anything, i think that technology actually makes our lives and communication much easier.
