Bloody Jack’s advice to Jimmy was “Don’t care about anything”. I think that it is a good advice for the short term because Jimmy can proceed on his life without worrying much. Jimmy’s parents argue all the time and it caused Jimmy to be emotionally scarred in some way. For someone on Jimmy’s age, it is not essential for him to know a lot about relationships of other people such as his parents until he becomes an adult. If Jimmy does not care about this for the moment Jimmy would be fine for the short term.
However Bloody Jack’s advice for Jimmy may not be very effective for the rest of Jimmy’s life because it may be too late for Jimmy to realise why his parents argue and why his parents’ relationship is like that. It is also possible that Jimmy may become like Bloody Jack; an old and lonely man in the future if he uses this strategy too much.
