Seung Jun's Opinion on Bloody Jack's Advice

I think that Bloody Jack’s advice does not help Jimmy in anyway but furthermore, I think that it has a negative impact on Jimmy. In chapter 6, Bloody Jack hears about Jimmy’s story about his parents. Bloody jack’s only friend is Jimmy so he tries to support Jimmy and give him an advice. Bloody Jack tells Jimmy to “See nothing, hear nothing”. This means that Jimmy should just ignore their parent’s dispute. Also, Bloody Jack tells Jimmy to “be sorry but don’t care” about his parents. However, I think that bloody Jack’s advice does not make sense. If Jimmy feels sorry for his parents, that means he has to think about the situation first. This means that Jimmy will not be able to “not care” about his parents because he is keep thinking about them.
Bloody Jack’s advice is not very useful because “pretending” not to care about his parents is what he had been doing all along since his parents started fighting. When he hears his parents fighting, he would use his “protection tricks” to act as if it does not matter to him. So, Bloody Jack’s advice is not really an “advice” if Jimmy had been doing it all along and made no change in him.
I feel that Bloody Jack’s advice had a negative impact than a positive one because I think that in the first chapter when he says “I don’t care” and has his oppressed anger still inside him has a link with Bloody Jack’s advice. I think that because Bloody Jack was a true friend to Jimmy, Jimmy listened to his advice and kept ignoring his parent’s quarrel which kept building on inside him. This led to build up in Jimmy’s destructive instinct and will burst out in the near future which will have a more severe damage on him than if he let it out continuously. I think that Jimmy would have not have inflated his anger if he did not listen to Bloody Jack’s advice but instead, Bloody Jack should have made different advice.
