“What do you think about Bloody Jack’s advice to Jimmy?”

In Chapter 6 of ‘The God Boy”, Bloody Jack advices Jimmy on what to do after Jimmy tells Jack about his parents’ constant bickering at home. Bloody Jack tells Jimmy to “don’t care” about his parents’ arguments.

I think Bloody Jack’s advice to Jimmy is of no use, he tells Jimmy that “Grownups should be ignored sometimes, kind of, by children” This is useless because by telling Jimmy to overlook his parents’ fighting won’t help make things better for his parents, and it will leave Jimmy in the same position as before.

However, Jimmy was only 11 years old when the conversation between him and Bloody Jack happened. Therefore, I don’t think there was anything else Bloody Jack could have told Jimmy to make him feel better about his parents. By telling him to “ignore the grownups” is the best advice anyone could give an 11 year old in that situation. Given the advice that Bloody Jack gives Jimmy, he sounds as though he is speaking from experience. Bloody Jack could have already gone through something similar to Jimmy and now he is just telling Jimmy to do what he has done.

In conclusion, I think Bloody Jack’s advice to Jimmy is somewhat helpful, by telling Jimmy to ignore his parents and “Let them worry about the other business” because even though Jimmy is very mature for his age (11 years old), he shouldn’t have to worry about the adults.

You have made some interesting arguments about how Bloody Jack may not have given the best advice but it is the best for that situation for a boy of that age. Good effort.

When you highlight your answers, please make sure that you use quotations as evidence and that you aim to structure you ideas in sentences clearly and that you give detail.

In addition, could you please edit the post as in some parts the tense needs altering. (I deleted the previous comment as I could not edit the wrong character name I had put there : )
