Jim- Bloody Jack's advice

I think that Bloody Jack's advice to Jimmy regarding his parents fighting is very good. Bloody Jack told Jimmy not to worry about his parents arguing, and to just ignore them, because it is not good for him.

When Bloody Jack and Jimmy are talking, Jimmy tells him that his parents 'don't get along with each other' and that his 'dad drinks... and Mum gets iffy'. This causes Bloody Jack to start worrying about Jimmy, and he enquirers more about the relationship of Jimmy's parents. Bloody Jack tells him not to pay attention, and that 'Grownups should be ignored sometimes... by children'. This is very good advice, because what Jimmy's parents are arguing about does not directly concern him, and if he didn't know about it, he would not be affected by it at all.

Bloody Jack tells Jimmy that he should 'see nothing, hear nothing' which reminds the reader of the Japanese phrase 'see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil', which is commonly used to describe a person who wishes to turn a blind eye to an act.
Jimmy tells Bloody Jack that it is impossible for him to ignore them, and he will always be able to hear them fight, unless he runs away, which the reader knows is not a solution to the problem, and will simply delay it.

I think that Bloody Jack's advice to Jimmy is very good advice, and it would do Jimmy a lot of good for him to listen to it. If he ignored his parents fights, then he would not be affected by them at all, as his parents are always nice to him when they are separate.
