Opinion on Bloody Jack's advice - Huyen

In Chapter 6, Jimmy is given an advice to ignore what is happening between his parents by Bloody Jack. Bloody Jack tells him to ‘see nothing and hear nothing’. Even though it is quite a quick solution make Jimmy less worried about what is going on, it only works temporarily.

In my opinion, I don’t think this is such a good advice.
If Jimmy ignores what is going on, the situation might get worse. Maybe with him knowing is better because at least he can do something to distract his parents from quarrelling. Like it is said by Jimmy in the novel, his parents are fine when they’re not with each other so perhaps he can separate them from the conflicts. Maybe if his parents know that Jimmy knows they might fight less so that he is happy. Also Bloody Jack’s advice will only work temporarily to show Jimmy that it is not his fault that his parents are fighting with each other. Jimmy is too sensitive to ignore his parents’ conflicts because he is too young to understand relationships between mothers and fathers.

It is not okay for him to avoid the fact that he knows because with all the thoughts going on in his mind he will live as an inside person, he will be very quiet and unwilling to share his thoughts. This will be a very bad outcome as some day with his thoughts building up so much they will burst out eventually and will hurt him even more.
